I added actual purpose to the planet game tonight! Before you could jump around and shoot off rockets but you didn’t have health or a goal of any kind. So I added health bars and you can blast people to smitherines now. When there’s only one player left (or everyone is dead) the round ends and a winner is declared.
I also got some feedback from people that the controls were a bit confusing when you were on the bottom side of the planets (since left/right was relative to the character, not the screen) and have changed it so that the characters walk in the direction you’re pushing the analogue stick no matter which side of a planet you’re on. This seems more intuitive for new players but means having to constantly change the direction you’re pushing to run all the way around a planet.
So I’ll need to let some people play it and see what they think (I was so used to the old controls that I was all messed up when I first tried the new ones so it was tricky to tell immediately if they were better).
I’ve tweaked the ground fiction as well so you’re not sliding around like a maniac as much as before.
With 4 players this game turns into a crazy colour light show of rockets and explosions flying everywhere. It’s pretty awesome.
